KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Webmaster cum e-librarian will be responsible for the maintenance of the organizations‘ website and its
digital library as a way of promoting its corporate image through the use of new media. Specifically, the roles will
include:
· To facilitate online learning initiative within the organization
· To design web pages for all the organization sites
· To create and maintain a smooth operation of the intranet
· To manage electronic databases
· To create and manage the information content (words and pictures) and organization of a Web site
· To manage the computer server and technical programming aspects of a Web site
· To maintain the digital library, including troubleshooting and content updating.
· To search for new resources available at other institutions and catalogue them
· To orient new users of the digital library
· To develop ways of assisting scientists in accessing electronic scientific publications
· Work closely with other members of the Resource Centre in promoting the corporate image of the
organization
· To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Information and Communication Unit.
Profile
· Equipped with internet and the world wide web skills,
· Communicates honestly, openly, and consistently.
· Maintains the highest standard of personal conduct in performing all duties.
· Willing and able to work for the best interests of the Institute.
· Proactive rather than reactive.
· Able to avoid mistakes that could/should be anticipated.
· An understanding of content management system for dynamic websites
· Ability to use different browsers and manage browser compatibility issues.
· Able to produce attractive Web pages that are effective within the limitations of the delivery medium.
QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
· Advance diploma or degree in website development and management,
· Experience in electronic library development and management
· 2 years working experience as a web master using any content management system software
· Knowledge of graphic design is an added advantage
